Huawei Innovation Research Program OPEN - 2017

The Huawei Innovation Research Program (HIRP) provides funding opportunities to leading universities and research institutes conducting innovative research in communication technology, computer science, engineering, and related fields. HIRP seeks to identify and support world-class, full-time faculty members, sets up win-win collaboration and pursues technology innovation of mutual interest.

Outstanding HIRP winners are invited to establish further long-term research partrnership and collaboration with Huawei’s various international research and engineering groups.

HIRP OPEN is a 1-2 year award that supports contract-based innovation research with an annual amount from USD 30,000 - USD 70,000. Larger awards may be possible for outstanding proposals.  In HKUST, the awarded projects will be hosted under the HKUST R and D Corporation Ltd., jointly with Huawei-HKUST Innovation Laboratory.

HIRP OPEN 2017 is now calling for proposals relevant to the following 13 key technical fields. However, proposals for other innovative subjects are also welcome.

Application Procedure

Applicant should be a full-time faculty member in HKUST (lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor or full professor) during the terms of the selected research project.
